Confidentiality

The NLA recognises that some information submitted in support of entries may be of a sensitive or confidential nature. The NLA undertakes to try and ensure that, where information is indicated to be confidential, that confidentiality will be respected and maintained in both the judging process and will not be used in any resulting publicity.

Publicity

Nominees submitted for the awards may be published in lists of entrants, finalists and/or winners on the PWA/NLA website and/or elsewhere.

Images submitted as part of entries, including photos, document covers, web pages, etc. may be used in connection with the awards presentation and Judges’ report and must be declared free from copyright or other restrictions in connection with reproduction.

Judging process

To ensure the NLA is able to handle a high volume of entrants, a judging strategy has been put into place to help make sure all entrants are treated fairly and subjected to the same criteria at each stage of the judging process.

Below is a breakdown of what will be involved at each stage of the judging process in order to clarify how entrants moved from shortlist finalists to local winners and category winners, and eventually the national winner.

Stage One:

All submissions will be considered by an NLA panel and a shortlist put forward to an expert and external judging panel (referred to throughout this website as 'the Judges').

Stage Two:

The Judges will apply a pre-agreed scoring system to each application which will take into account both financial and personal successes.

Stage Three:

To determine each category winner and the overall winner, all finalists will go through the following process:

  1. Award categories from 1 to 14 will be contacted to provide details of tenants and financial referees to allow the Judges to verify all claims and stories.
  2. Award categories 15 and 16 will be contacted to provide details for any referees mentioned, to allow the Judges to verify all claims and stories.
  3. All information will then be cross-referenced with the Judges' scores and used to decide the final winners prior to the awards ceremony in June.

There will be one winner per award. The Judges will take into consideration the merit of the entries and the extent to which the entries meet the awards' criteria. The decision of the Judges is final. Absolutely no correspondence will be entered into. The Judges reserve the right to move an entry from one award to another as they see fit.

Announcement and Presentation

The award winners will be announced at the awards ceremony and presentation to be held at Park Plaza Riverbank, London, SE1 on June 24 2010. No information can be given out prior to the ceremony taking place. The winners in each category will receive an award, the relevant prize and a certificate (see prizes). Finalists will also receive a specially designed logo for use on stationary and in e-signatures. Results will be displayed on the PWA website. Winners should be aware that their entry and award details will be used in media materials to publicise the awards both before and after the awards announcement. Any winners not happy for these details to be used should inform the NLA in writing.
